With a lingering winter and recent snow...a local plant decided to help our feathered friends survive.
Thursday morning, the Fleet Farm distribution center in Chippewa Falls made an emergency shipment: truckloads of birdseed.
Birds that migrated back for spring are struggling to find food on the snow-covered ground, and after migrating, they're too tired to fly south again. When the Fleet Farm inventory team noticed stores were running low on birdseed, they packed up a truck to leave first thing Thursday morning.
And while you're putting out bird seed, don't forget about birds that might require something else. Robins can't digest bird seed, so leaving out a few bite sized pieces of fruit is a better option.
