EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Back in October, an Eau Claire event known as the Haunted Hustle 5K raised more than $9,000 to support local community organizations.
Friday, Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire presented funds raised from the 5K run-walk to six non-profit organizations.
The check presentation was held Friday morning at the L.E. Phillips Career Development Center.
The Eau Claire County Drug Endangered Children Initiative, Acres for Joy and the L.E. Phillips Career Development Center each received a share of the proceeds from the Haunted Hustle.
"To be able to put the Hustle on and to be able to kind of raise almost $10,000 for the six nonprofits we were able to do that for really means a lot to us. It’s really rewarding and a lot of fun for us," said Pete Farrow with Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire.
This was the sixth annual Haunted Hustle 5K, which included a kid’s spooky sprint and silent auction at Owen Park. Ruby’s Pantry, Hope Gospel Mission and the Family Resource Center also received $500 each.
