LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) -- This morning a group of concerned citizens gathered at the office of Congressman Ron Kind to deliver him a letter.
Students, activists and local business owners showed up to encourage the congressman to support the Green New Deal legislation.
The event in La Crosse was one of hundreds of letters delivered across the country.
More than 600 national organizations have endorsed the Green New Deal, which would move the U.S. from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
"I just feel like we just need to do as much as we can because the climate is changing, but we are right now determining how much it's going to keep changing," said Annika Mersmann, who organized the event.
People who attended the letter delivery Friday morning say they are concerned with the direction the climate is heading.
In addition to moving the U.S. to clean renewable energy, supporters of the Green New Deal say it would create quality jobs and keep energy dollars in local economies.
