BARRON, Wis. (WEAU) -- Tonight, survivor and child safety activist Elizabeth Smart will be in Barron to help the community heal following the Jayme closes case.
Smart was abducted from her bedroom in 2002 at knifepoint and kept for nine months before being rescued.
The Barron County Sheriff's Department is hoping Smart's experience will help show the community, and Jayme, that while the event changed her life it doesn't have to define her.
The event called ‘Moving Forward’ will begin at 6:30 tonight in the Barron High School Gym. It is free for anyone to attend.
