CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) - Hundreds of families in need can now put presents under the tree for their children because of the generosity of the community.

The Spirit of Christmas organization was handing out large bags of gifts for families throughout Chippewa County. The organization says 560 families that reached over 1,600 kids picked up gifts ranging from board games to bikes. The gifts were all donated by members of the community throughout this holiday season.
An event organizer says most of the families say it fills gives their children Christmas spirit they didn't have before.
“There are families that have 8 kids, 7 kids, 5 kids,” Bonita Aude, the packing coordinator for the Spirit of Christmas organization in Chippewa County, said. “Every kid gets something, maybe not everything on the wish list they had, but we try to do our best. 99% of these people are so thankful that they’ve gotten something: ‘I wouldn’t have a Christmas without you people.’"
The organization says close to $75 were spent on every single child that was part of the program.
