EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Western Wisconsin companies got the chance to learn more about Foxconn opportunities.
The informational meeting took place at CVTC Tuesday afternoon in Eau Claire.
Construction-related companies learned more about becoming a vendor, subcontractor, supplier, or service provider during the construction phase of the Foxconn project.
Organizers said they want to hire as many Wisconsin companies as possible.
They say work is already underway.
"The initial phase of the construction has actually just begun, they're looking at the infrastructure, roads, things that have to be taken care of before they actually put a shovel in the ground and start building the building, but the bids for that will be released shortly," said Momentum West Executive Director Steve Jahn.
Organizers said Foxconn will create about 10,000 direct construction jobs.
The company hopes to break ground by the end of May and be operational late next year.
