CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU)-- Christmas came early to hundreds of area kids Wednesday evening. Families gathered for a Christmas party at the Knight's of Columbus in Chippewa Falls.

Back in November, the Chippewa Valley Restaurant along with local law enforcement were able to raise $17,000 for "Jason's Presents." The event featured Santa himself, holiday goodies, and presents for families who can't afford them.

Area police and firefighters served a meal for those who attended.

Cadott Firefighter & EMT Eric Weiland says, "I feel honored, we get to work side-by-side with the officers everyday, other police, EMT's, firefighters, just a good thing to come together and be able to do."

"Jason's Presents" is in honor of Deputy Jason Zunker who was killed in the line of duty while redirecting traffic at the scene of a semi-trailer fire in 2008.
