Local flag football players to represent Packers at the Pro Bowl

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Ten very lucky boys from the area will experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity later this month as they participate in the NFL Flag Football Championships at the Pro Bowl.

The Northwest Wisconsin Champions are a group of 13 and 14-year-olds chosen to represent the Green Bay Packers at the Pro Bowl in Orlando.

Each NFL team chose one coach and team to represent them at the Flag Football Championships.

The NWC Packers are coached by Bobby Diaz and are practicing ahead of the round-robin tournament the final weekend of January.

Coach Diaz says one of the perks is all the football swag the kids receive.

"They'll have cleats, gloves, shorts and all the goodies that come with playing football. Almost like they're treated like mini-college, professional kids, but they are representing the Packers so we are really getting ready. I really give these kids credit because they have come out and given up their time to prepare for this," explains Diaz.

The top eight teams will play their championship game at the Pro Bowl and all the boys will be attending the Pro Bowl game.
