Local students are giving back to their community.
Third graders from Longfellow Elementary School visited River Pines Nursing Home in Altoona to deliver blankets to residents Tuesday. The students also worked with their physical education teacher to learn some dance moves that they performed for the residents. They even taught the residents how to dance.
Third grade teacher at Longfellow, Angie Printz, says the experience is heartwarming.
"It's something that I think we need to do more of in our community, introducing these young kids to community service and to the older generation what they can learn from that is amazing,” said Printz.
The students made 11 blankets. The fleece used to make the blankets was donated by Peace Lutheran Church.
