BLOOMER, Wis. (WEAU) -- After three years, the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Bloomer High School is stepping down.

Luke Madsen said in an email he recently accepted a teaching position in the Rochester Public School system and will also serve as Head Boys Basketball Coach at Rochester Mayo High School. His last day with the School District of Bloomer is set for Aug. 18.

"My family and I are excited by the opportunities that this position offers us all," Madsen said in the email. "We are looking forward to teaching and living in the same district. While we will certainly miss many of our friends and family in the Chippewa Valley, we are thrilled by the prospects that await us.

Madsen previously coached the Chi-Hi boys basketball team. At Bloomer, he was also Assistant Principal and Activities Director. The School District of Bloomer will be posting ads for the positions vacated by Madsen's resignation.
