UPDATE: Person dead after Monroe County officer- involved shooting

MONROE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) -- A person died at a local Monroe County hospital after an officer-involved shooting on Tuesday.

The Department of Justice says Wisconsin State Patrol responded to reports of a local business that called for a domestic violence call. People were barricaded inside the business and law enforcement then negotiated with a male who was carrying a firearm outside.

The DOJ says during the incident, officials used deadly force with their firearms, striking the man. Law enforcement provided medical aid to the suspect but he later died at a local hospital.


MONROE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) --The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says an officer-involved shooting happened Tuesday night in the Town of Leon.

The sheriff's office says the public is not in any danger and an outside agency will be investigating the shooting.

Highway 27 in Leon was closed for several hours, but both lanes are now back open. No other information on the incident is being released at this time.
