UPDATE: Name released in fatal snowmobile crash in Dunn Co.

DUNN COUNTY, Wis. (MEDIA RELEASE) -- The Dunn County Sheriff's Office has identified the snowmobiler who died in a crash Saturday night and corrected his age.

The sheriff's office says the victim is 29-year-old Brenden Schutts of Boyceville.

On Saturday, February 09, 2019 at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Dunn County E-911 Center received a report of a snowmobile crash near the 8500 Block of 870th Street in Colfax in Dunn County.

It was reported the snowmobile operator, a 29-year-old rural Boyceville man was unconscious. Dunn County Sheriff’s Deputies, Menomonie Fire and Rescue, Colfax Fire and Rescue, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Life Link Helicopter responded to the scene.

After a preliminary crash investigation, it was determined that the snowmobile operator was southbound on a designated snowmobile trail. It appears the snowmobile operator lost control of the snowmobile, left the trail and was ejected. The operator was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation by deputies from the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
