NEILSVILLE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A familiar face is once again joining ESPN's team as they cover the 2019 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi.
Dana Shilts of Neillsville will return as contributor to ESPN’s coverage throughout the games and during the opening ceremony.
Shilts served as an ESPN analyst during last year's event in Seattle.
She won four gold medals competing in snowboarding at the Special Olympics world games in 2013 and 2017.
"I’m totally excited!” says Shilts. “I’m passed the nervous freak out stage. I’ve been excited but now that I can finally have it go public because I have a lot of followers, my little town in Neillsville, it may be little but they're big hearted,” she adds.
“I have people asking me all the time ‘What are you doing next? Where are you going? What are you doing?’ and so this is what I’m doing and I’ve got the whole community coming with me," says Shilts.
Shilts has been honored for her accomplishments at the ESPY awards and was recognized as a 'Hometown Hero' by the state assembly in 2017.
She is set to leave for the event on Monday.
