EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The fight against cancer was front and center at an area event Friday night.

Nearly a dozen bands and performers took the stage at the Metropolis Resort in Eau Claire for the inaugural “Night For The Fight” event.

Organizers say the performers received votes during the night and the winning band is set to receive a cash prize which will be donated in the fight against cancer.

The winner will also be given the opportunity to play for a festival event.

“We have a ton of bands here 11 bands overall coming to help raise money to fight cancer,” Andrew Krauss, public relations with Chippewa Valley Music Festivals, said to WEAU 13 News on Friday. “Overall, there are no costs so everything you see is donated, everything will either go to the American Cancer Society or the Gilbert Brown Foundation.”
