CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- Monday morning on Hello WIsconsin, Jeremy Hunt, General Manager/Co-Owner of Olson's Ice Cream, announced Olson's is opening an Eau Claire location. The exact whereabouts of that location is still a mystery. The business is encouraging patrons to guess where the new store will be. If you guess correctly, your name will be entered in a drawing to win free ice cream for 12 months. You can learn more on Olson's Facebook page.
Their press release can be found below:
Olson’s Ice Cream has been making “homaid” ice cream in Chippewa Falls for 75 years, and this year they will be adding a second location in Eau Claire.
“Olson’s has had plans to come to Eau Claire since the ‘80s, and we are excited to finally make it happen,” said coowner/general manager Jeremy Hunt.
To celebrate the new store, Olson’s is unveiling a new flavor, Canadian Maple, available now at the Chippewa Falls location. Additionally, customers can guess on the Olson’s Facebook page the exact Eau Claire location and have the chance to win ice cream for a year.
The Eau Claire store will open this spring, and the Chippewa Falls store will still be open year-round. All of the ice cream will still be made by hand at the Chippewa Falls store. Olson’s is the only ice cream parlor in the Chippewa Valley where the ice cream is made locally. With the expansion will come some new offerings as well.
“With two locations, we will be able to bring even more treats to our customers, and we’re developing some new products for the spring opening,” added Hunt.
Albert J. Olson and his partner began making their “Homaid” Ice Cream at Knapp Dairy in Knapp in 1923.
Albert moved his family to Chippewa Falls and began making ice cream and processing milk at Olson’s Creamland Dairy. Olson’s still operates in that same building today at 611 North Bridge Street in Chippewa Falls.
The Olson family sold the business to the Hunt family in 2007.
