MONICO, Wis. (NBC) -- An Oneida County man woke up to sounds of smashing, crashing and growls this weekend. Turns out, it was a bear breaking into his Monico home.
John Ison says he found this black bear rummaging through his living room early Saturday morning. He says his first instinct was to protect his family, so he returned to his bedroom and grabbed his pistol. When he came back out, he realized the bear was just a cub that was trying to escape. That’s when John decided to help the little guy get out, by opening a sliding glass door.
Moments later, the cub escaped the home safely.
John believes the cub was pushed into the front door by a larger bear that likes to hang around his house. He says he doesn't think the curious cub will be back anytime soon.
