EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- He's been traveling across the nation for Republican candidates.
Now, Vice President Mike Pence's next stop will be Wednesday in the Badger State – including in the Chippewa Valley.
"When you have a president or a vice president come in your community, basically that will dictate how things have to be done," Brian Westrate, the GOP Chair for Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District, said to WEAU 13 News on Tuesday.
Pence will first stop in Green Bay at the Oneida Country Club. Then he will travel to north of Eau Claire to deliver remarks at Precision Pipeline, just off Highway 29.
"There's a theme among the Republicans of doing things that are favoring those who are wealthy, including business owners and other people who have wealth,” Beverly Wickstrom, the chair of the Eau Claire County Democratic Party, said to WEAU 13 News on Tuesday. “So, the location really reinforces to us a lot of the things that's Scott Walker and Donald Trump are advocating for."
Said Westrate: "For me, at least, I think it's a good thing for us to be highlighting the energy industry, and the infrastructure needs for it. You know, we haven't built a new refinery since the 70s. I mean, there are a lot of key energy sector areas that need some love and need some attention paid to them. So, to the extent that might have any part of it, I think it's a good industry to highlight."
WEAU will have complete coverage of Wednesday's event with Vice President Pence and Gov. Walker.
The speeches are expected to start at around 4 p.m. from Precision Pipeline. When they do, WEAU will carry the remarks of governor walker and vice president pence live on Antenna TV –13.2 on over-the-air television and Channel 193 on Charter Cable.
