BEIJING (AP) -- President Donald Trump is publicly urging China's president to pressure North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons program.

Trump says China can fix the problem "easily and quickly." He publicly called on Chinese President Xi Jinping to "hopefully work on it very hard."

Says Trump: "If he works on it hard, it will happen. There's no doubt about it."

He spoke after following meetings with Xi on Thursday in Beijing.

China is North Korea's largest trading partner. Trump has pressured China on North Korea since he took office. The administration praises China for steps it has taken to pressure North Korea, but Trump wants Xi to do more. Trump also called for Russia to help.

Trump is expected to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Vietnam.
