Referee shortage forces high school basketball game to be rescheduled

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A high school basketball game Friday night was forced to be rescheduled due to a shortage of referees.

According to a Facebook post by the Altoona School District, the Altoona boys' basketball game against McDonell on Friday was rescheduled for Monday night.

Nick White, a former board member of the Indianhead Athletic Officials Association, which serves the Chippewa Valley and surrounding communities, says this is at least the third basketball game that's been rescheduled due to a shortage of refs.

The association plans to launch a recruitment campaign in a few weeks.
