LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU)-- According to the Department of Workforce Development, 20 employees at River Steel in La Crosse and West Salem will be laid off later this month as the two plants cease operations.

River Steel C-E-O Tim Brennan says with the decline of global mining and Caterpillar's shift of those jobs from Wisconsin to Mexico, they have seen their workforce decline.

The positions affected include welders, machine operators, supervisors, quality inspectors, administrators, and officers. The Western Wisconsin Workforce Development Area rapid response will contact the company to offer services to the business and the affected workers.
