EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)-- The Altoona School District says it's considering taking legal action against the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram.
A news release from the district cites an article published Tuesday by the L-T that has the headline, "Altoona fires Biedron." The district says Superintendent Connie Biedron has not been fired or dismissed.
The release also quoted the article's subheading that said "Dismissal comes 2 months after school board renews her contract through 2018-19." The district says Superintendent Biedron does have a contract which runs through the 2018-19 school year.
The law firm Weld Riley also sent a release calling the article "fake news" and says the district will be seeking "all appropriate legal and equitable relief resulting from this irresponsible and misleading article. This includes seeking a front page, over-the-fold, retraction; an apology to both the District and Superintendent Biedron; as well as exploring potential legal actions"
WEAU reached out to the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram for comment. They said they are not prepared to release a statement at this time.
