Sen. Tammy Baldwin wants voters to get to the polls early

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Senator Tammy Baldwin stopped in La Crosse Thursday afternoon to encourage early voting.

Joined by state Sen. Jennifer Shilling, state Rep. Jill Billings and community members, Baldwin says it is up to everyone to vote and move Wisconsin forward.

Baldwin says she hopes that when voters head to the polls they take the issues, like healthcare, into consideration.

"I see this campaign and this election being about the issues. And people like Jenny, whose story I told you, who are terrified that her son might never have insurance if she doesn't stand up, get involved and fight on the issues and then vote in the elections," said Baldwin.

In a statement to WEAU, Baldwin's opponent Leah Vukmir says, "As President Trump said yesterday, everyone should get out and early vote because Senator Baldwin's dangerous support of the caravan will lead to more illegal criminals entering our country, and we must vote for the safety of Wisconsin."

In-person early voting in La Crosse and Eau Claire runs through Nov. 2.
