Sizable donation gifted to Eau Claire Confluence project

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Frigid temps dominated last week's ‘Light Up Eau Claire’ celebration. Thursday, Visit Eau Claire didn’t' let an afternoon blizzard deter them from making a sizable donation to the future Confluence Arts Center.

The organization presented a check for $42,000 at Royal Credit Union headquarters to the Confluence Council.

The money gathered from ‘Light Up Eau Claire’ is earmarked for operating reserves for the Confluence Arts Center.

"We're used to Wisconsin winters and we're used to running the events with Wisconsin winters - but this was extreme. So there were some things that did challenge the operations of the event that, you know, we'll be more wear for next year, if they happen, you know certain, at certain levels of temperature, there are certain events outside that we just can't carry on,” said Linda John, executive director of Visit Eau Claire.

The future Confluence Arts Center in downtown Eau Claire is slated to open later this year.
