Storage needed for Woo's Pagoda
Two local organizations have come together to restore the pagoda, but they are asking the community for help.
The Chippewa Valley Museum says it needs an indoor facility that can store the structure so that local business, "Live in Eau Claire" can restore it.
The 18-foot pagoda was constructed on top of the former Jimmy Woo's Restaurant in 1959. In May of 2014, community members and businesses came together to remove it as the restaurant was demolished for new construction. It has been sitting outside of Banbury Place ever since.
The museum says it needs to find a storage place by May 15th.
After that date, the main pagoda structure will be dismantled and removed from Banbury Place.
The museum says efforts will then shift to preserving the smaller top section of the pagoda, which has been detached from the main structure.
