Students take the plunge for Special Olympics

MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU) -- It may be a little chilly today, but the weather did not stop area student from taking the plunge.

Friday afternoon students and staff in Menomonie leaped in the frigid water to benefit the Special Olympics.

At the event pre-registration also took place for Saturday’s Polar Plunge at Wakanda Park Beach in Menomonie.

Organizers say the Polar Plunge is Special Olympics Wisconsin's single largest source of fundraising.
