EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A science teacher from Ohio is charged after being accused of trying to meet up with a teenager for sex in Eau Claire.

A criminal complaint says 28-year-old Kevin Gowsell was charged with three counts Friday in Eau Claire County court.

The complaint said Gowsell posted an ad on Craigslist on Thursday which said he was traveling through and he had a room and a hot tub to share.

An undercover detective posing as a 14-year-old girl responded to the ad and they agreed to meet up in Eau Claire.

Goswell said he was concerned about the child's welfare and wanted to meet her for supper to tell her it was not safe to meet strangers online, said their conversation had become sexual.

Gowsell's next court appearance is scheduled for August 9th.
