Twin Cities passenger rail discussed at Eau Claire Chamber meeting

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The future of the Chippewa Valley's mobility and access to the transportation system was the topic of discussion Friday at the Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce meeting.

During Friday’s Eggs and Issues event, chamber members were informed on the latest state legislature's debate over long-term transportation funding, discussed local air service and were given an update on the passenger rail service from Eau Claire to St. Paul.

Scott Rogers of the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce says there's still a lot of logistics to figure out about the rail service.

"There's a lot of pieces to come together. We need to identify an operator; we need to determine how expensive it would be to put the track in shape. We're plowing a lot of new ground, actually. It's exciting when you are doing something new, but also has its new challenges,” Rogers.
