During a second news conference Thursday, UWEC Chancellor Jim Schmidt says the university is canceling all face-to-face classes for three weeks as of the end of the day Friday.
Chancellor Schmidt says currently scheduled online classes will continue.
He says all students will have the opportunity to complete the spring term.
He says the university will remain open for now, and employees will be asked to work.
However, events being held on campus will be limited to 25 people. The Viennese Ball will not take place this year.
Director of Athletics at UW-Eau Claire Dan Schumacher says all winter and spring sporting events, including practices are canceled.
Chancellor Schmidt says the university will continue to evaluate the situation.
