EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Eau Claire is becoming synonymous with Kubb, and new grant is looking to bring more people into the city to play the Swedish lawn game where the objective is to knock over wooden blocks.
A $39,500 joint effort marketing grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism aims to bring visitors to Eau Claire by way of Kubb.
From now until May, an ad campaign tied to the game will run in the Twin Cities area.
Visit Eau Claire says it hopes to attract 2,000 visitors to the city, generating an estimated $104,000 of spending in the area.
The 2019 U.S. National Kubb Championship will be held in Eau Claire July 12-14.
