EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The results are in and the winners have been notified. This week, Volume One magazine released their annual ‘Best of the Chippewa Valley’ issue highlighting readers’ choices in more than 250 categories.

We sat down with the guys behind the poll to talk about the categories and why the winners make the Chippewa Valley so special.

“We started doing the best of in 2007, so this is our 12th annual ‘Best of the Chippewa Valley’ reader poll,” says online editor Mike Paulus. “We have food categories, we have nightlife and bar categories, we have entertainment. You can pick and choose things out of there and kind of see it as a menu of things to assemble an awesome night.”

Volume One Managing Editor Tom Giffey adds that the poll can be a helpful tool for people who are unfamiliar with what the area has to offer. “Maybe you don't know a good Italian place or you don't know a good place for sushi in town. You can look at the poll and say, 'these are places that local people identify.'”

On Saturday night, Volume One will celebrate the winners at the ‘Best Night’ event held at the Lismore Hotel. For a full list of winners, click the link attached below.

“I feel like the poll has really grown with the Chippewa Valley with its diverse interests and with all the new things happening, the poll responds to that with new questions,” says Paulus. “The ‘Best of’ is really a chance to promote the things you like, so it's not all about putting down the things you don't like, it's about celebrating the things the we've accomplished and that we appreciate about this area.”
