The Wisconsin Elections Committee says one of its original members, Steve King, has resigned.

The committee says it’s due to his appointment as U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic.

In a press release the committee said King thanks Assembly Speaker Robin Vos for the opportunity to serve the people of Wiscsoin.

“It has been an honor to serve as your representative on the Commission,” King said.“A little over a year ago we successfully launched this new bipartisan elections organization. I am confident the WEC will continue to retain the confidence of the citizens of the state.”

King is the founder King Capital LLC and a member of the Republican National Committee from Janesville.

The committee says Speaker Vos will appoint a replacement for Commissioner King at a later date.
