EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Young athletes got the chance to learn from one of the best as pro baseball pitcher James Paxton spent the day in Eau Claire.

Kards Baseball Academy in Eau Claire hosted its "James Paxton pitching camp" Saturday for youth players. Paxton played for the Seattle Mariners for the last 5 seasons and will be on the New York Yankees 2019 roster.

The lefty pitcher says he enjoys being in the position to give back and work with young players.

"I remember going to camps when I was young and learning from guys and I just really enjoyed them giving their time to talk to us and teach us a few things about baseball. I think one of the greatest things is when you see them making an adjustment and actually listening to what you're telling them and actually doing something differently. It's awesome," said Paxton.

Kards Academy owner Steven Hensley says their goal is to simply help kids get better and enjoy the game of baseball. This is the third annual James Paxton pitching camp.
