Assembly Bill 28, now called 2023 Wisconsin Act 4, reclassifies county jailers under the Wisconsin Retirement System, the Office of the Governor announced.
"We know that the parents are entrusting us, our drivers, our monitors when they see them off at the bus stop in the morning, that they are going to arrive home safe in the afternoon."
The constitutional amendment was passed into law in the statewide election a day earlier, when a pair of ballot questions on bail gained support from two-thirds of voters.
