CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis (WEAU) On Tuesday night, Chippewa Falls defeated North 6-2 earning a second place finish in the Big Rivers standings. In that win, the Cardinals senior goaltender Jaden Hoople had 32 saves. On the season he he has a .923 save percentage and is a huge reason his team has won five of their last six games entering the playoffs.
"I can't ask for much more. I knew we were a young team. The Big Rivers Conference is the hardest conference in the state for hockey. Finishing second with the teams that we play, I am really happy with our season."
Hoople is a four year starter in goal for the Cardinals, and with that experience has become the on ice leader of this Chi Hi squad.
"I like firing up the boys and if I have to get a little loud every once and awhile I really do enjoy it"
Head coach Scott Parker is happy to have a vocal leader like Hoople on the ice.
"He is the guy calling the shots back there and calling the shots in the locker room, so he has full control. He is an unique individual, you won't run across too many guys like him. He is confident and demands his team to play well in front of him."
As for his teams play entering the playoffs, Hoople thinks his team is playing some of it's best hockey of the season."
"We have a lot of skill, we have went through a lot of ups and downs, we have played some really good games, we had some bad games. I think we have really grown as a team and closer as a team and I think it has been showing in the last couple of games we have been playing.
The Cardinals will face Marshfield on Thursday night in the WIAA Regional Finals at 4:30 at the Chippewa Ice Arena.
