Aquinas knocks off Melrose-Mindoro again for back-to-back D4 state titles

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WEAU) - New year, same result. Aquinas used a 68-52 victory over Melrose-Mindoro in 2018 to win the program's first state championship. 2019 was no different for the Blugolds. Facing the Mustangs once again, Aquinas retained their state crown winning another Division 4 title Saturday afternoon, 65-39.

The Blugolds held just a 23-20 lead at halftime, but ran away in the second half to secure back-to-back state championships. Aquinas was led offensively by Lexi Donarski (22 points) and Kayla Bahr (17 points) who combined for as many points as Melrose-Mindoro scored as a team.
