Kyle Cody drafted by Texas Rangers

Chippewa Falls, Wis. (WEAU) Former Chippewa Falls McDonell and Kentucky standout pitcher Kyle Cody was drafted Friday by the Texas Rangers in the sixth round in the Major League Baseball draft.

Cody was taken with the 189th overall pick by Texas. He has a fastball that can top out at 98 mph and was selected last year in the second round by the Minnesota Twins, opting to return to Kentucky for his senior season.

In his final year for the WIldcats he finished with 6-2 record with a 3.35 ERA.

While he was at McDonell, Cody was named the Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the year his senior season and was named to the Cape Cod League All-Star game while in college.
