EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- It's National Signing Day and it was an eventful one at Eau Claire Regis with six signees. Chippewa Falls also had one athlete sign to play at the collegiate level.

The six Regis athletes signing this afternoon:

Jack Nicolai – Sioux Falls to run track

Grace Gilles – Sioux Falls to play volleyball

Teryn Karlstad – St. Thomas to play basketball

Andrew Ernstmeyer to Iowa State to play football

Cade Osborn – St. Cloud state to play football

Tommy Schmidt – UW-Eau Claire to run track

All of them say they've found the right fit to compete at the collegiate level.

"I got invited on an official visit and I saw a basketball game there this winter, and I just loved campus and everything about it. I loved all the coaches there. It just felt like home," Ernstmeyer said.

"St. Cloud (State) has been a big part ever since sophomore/junior year,” Osborn said. “I've been in contact with the coach. I just grew a strong relationship and once I got on campus, it really felt like home."

"I picked St. Thomas because of the culture they have there and I think it's just the best fit for me academically and athletically," Karlstad said.

"I'm super excited to be a part of Chip Schneider's team at UWEC,” Schmidt said. “He really emphasizes a team sport and the fact that the team is a family. I feel like I'll really be able to fit in well with that."

"I chose Sioux Falls because it was a great fit academically and athletically,” Gilles said. “They have a fantastic nursing program, which is what I'd like to go into."

"It's a small school, but also a big city where I'll have lots to do,” Nicolai said. “When I went on my official visit, it just felt like home. It was just a great time."

At Chippewa Falls, JD Czech will follow in his brother and parents’ footsteps and will attend St. Cloud State. Czech will play tight end for the huskies. Last year, he had 15 receptions and 2 touchdowns for Chippewa Falls and was used at multiple positions.

He's excited to be headed to St. Cloud next year.

“I have known the coaching staff at St. Cloud for a while now, and they are the kind I want to be coached by. I know a lot of this year's recruiting class and I am just excited to be there with those guys and those are the people I want to surround myself with,” Czech said.
