Nick Mattoon to take a break from Ski Jumping

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) Eau Claire Native Nick Mattoon announced on Instagram that he will take a break from ski jumping. He has been a member of the national team for five years.

Mattoon national career includes being a two-time U.S. Cup Champion and was third at the U.S. National Championships in 2015.
Internationally he best finishes were 9th in Notodden, Norway in 2013 in the FIS Cup and 16th at the Continental Cup in Erzurum, Turkey.

Mattoon has also been a regular competitor at the Silver Mine Invitational, which his family is very heavily involved with helping organize.

In his Instagram Post, Mattoon stated:
"Ski jumping has been my passion my whole life. At the moment, I have decided to take some time off to find that passion again. Thanks to all the family, friends, and fans that have supported me all these years! Big shout out to my teammates who became my brothers! #alwaysdreaming #squad #skijumping #USA���� "
