MADISON, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Eau Claire North boys hockey team falls in the WIAA state quarterfinal game to Verona 5-1 Thursday afternoon.

The Huskies, led by Ryan Parker, in his 5th year as head coach, finish their season with a 17-10-1 record and their 1st state appearance since 2006. North finished 3rd in the Big Rivers Conference behind Eau Claire Memorial and Chippewa Falls.

Husky senior, Sam Stange, a Wisconsin Badgers hockey commit, was named the Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association Player of the Year after tallying 80 points during the 2018-19 season. Stange ended his career as the all-time leading scorer in North history with 205 points. Stange scored 97 goals, also a North record.

For the 2019-20 season, the Huskies will likely return junior Zach Urdahl, who tallied 67 points, including a North single season record 46 goals, and junior Joey Koller, who scored 50 points. North will have to replace 2-year starter at goalie, Tyler Schreiter.
