North hockey team send-off to State

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- For the first time in 13 years, the Eau Claire North Boys Hockey Team is headed to the State Tournament.

Wednesday morning, the Huskies were given a send-off from parents and students at the Doghouse. North is making the trip to Madison for the fifth-time in school history, but first since 2006. The Huskies will face Verona in Thursday afternoon's state quarterfinal. North's furthest advance in the WIAA State Tournament came back in 1995 when the Huskies advanced to the state semifinals.

"It's a big thing for us as a program, it's a big thing for the fans and the people that support hockey here on the north side, so yeah it's definitely a great feeling. So hopefully, the goal is to go down there and compete and win that first game,” said Coach Ryan Parker.
