EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) Former Eau Claire Memorial and current Wisconsin defensman Ty Emberson may have a chance to help Team USA battle for a title at the World Junior Championship later this month in Canada.
Emberson was named to the Team USA preliminary roster and will participate in the training camp December 15th-17th in Everett, Washington. If he makes the team, the World Juniors begin December 26th in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Emberson is no stranger to playing for Team USA. In 2016, he helped the U.S take first at the Youth Olympic games and played his junior hockey as part of the U.S. National Under-18 Team in the USHL.
The Eau Claire native is currently in his freshman season at Wisconsin and was a third round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Arizona Coyotes.
Emberson's Wisconsin teammates K'Andre Miller and Sean Dhooghe were also named to the team as well.
