UW-Eau Claire Women's Hockey earns NCAA tournament bid

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) For the second straight season, the Blugolds will have a chance to battle for a national title as they earned a NCAA tournament bid and will face St. Thomas on Saturday.


UW-Eau Claire made their first appearance in the tournament last season, winning their first game over Gustavus Adolphus before falling to Hamline in the second round.

The Blugolds have won 19 games this year, matching last years win total, and won the WIAC Championship on Saturday with a win over UW-River Falls.

Their first round opponent is top ranked St. Thomas and if they win they will face either UW-River Falls or Hamline in the semifinals the following week.
