The lawyer representing former Eau Claire Area School District Superintendent Bill Klaus says it's about time someone made a decision.
As far as he knows, though, his client is not aware that prosecutors won't file criminal charges in the matter of Klaus' contract. Attorney Tom Guelzow says Klaus is on vacation in Alaska with his 87-year-old mother he can't be reached.
Guelzow says the Eau Claire Police Department and Eau Claire County District Attorney Rich White were thorough and fair with their investigation, but he feels the school board didn't handle the situation appropriately.
"(Klaus) has not done anything wrong if the public knows what the facts are. The problem here is with the Board and how the Board did their activities," Guelzow says.
On Wednesday, White announced that he cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Klaus committed any criminal wrong doing. White says anyone who isn't satisfied with his decision should look to the Eau Claire school board. The school board has held nine closed session meetings on the issue without resolving it. There's no word on when the board's next meeting will be. Watch NewsCenter 13 at 5 and 6 for reaction from current School Board President Carol Craig.
