Confluence Council releases statement on Board of Regents resolution

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (CONFLUENCE COUNCIL NEWS RELEASE) -- Members of the Confluence Council issued the following statement Wednesday, Aug. 20, regarding the resolution the UW System Board of Regents will consider at its meeting Thursday, Aug. 21:

The Confluence Council greatly appreciates the Board of Regents consideration of a resolution reaffirming the regents’ support for the Confluence Project and directing UW System administration to work with the Department of Administration to implement the project.

It has been evident since Governor Scott Walker announced his support for the Confluence Project in Eau Claire on June 23 that state funding for the project could be provided outside the traditional UW System capital budget process. At that time, Governor Walker indicated a non-state agency grant to the project would be possible. He reaffirmed his support of that approach Tuesday, Aug. 19 in Eau Claire.

We urge the Board of Regents to approve the resolution. In doing so, regents would again make it clear that they endorse the Confluence Project and the necessary state funding for it.
