NEW INFORMATION: Cause of fire south of Eau Claire under investigation

TOWN OF WASHINGTON, Wis. (WEAU) -- Investigators are trying to determine what started a vehicle fire that ended up spreading to a garage.

The Township Fire Department said nobody was hurt in the fire on Chokecherry Road, south of Eau Claire. Crews responded around 3:45 p.m. Thursday. They had the fire under control in about 20 minutes.

The fire did not damage a house on the property.


TOWN OF WASHINGTON, Wis. (WEAU) -- Crews are fighting a fire that appears to have spread from a vehicle to a garage.

It happened on Chokecherry Road, south of Eau Claire Thursday afternoon. Our photographer on the scene said a vehicle is fully engulfed in flames, and there is smoke coming from the garage. The garage is not attached to a house on the property.

The Township Fire Department is leading the investigation. We'll bring you more information as it becomes available.
