ELK MOUND, Wis. (WEAU)- Out with the old and in with the new, Elk Mound High School finishes laying down a fresh logo on its gym floor.

The doors of the Elk Mound gym are still locked, but only for another week as the new school logo dries.

After laying down a new design in June, the District was asked by the Milwaukee Bucks to change their logo design due to similarity of the Bucks logo.

The Bucks offered to pay for the district to repaint the gym floor, and Elk Mound School District superintendent Ron Walsh said he appreciates the gesture.

"It’s nice to see it resolved,” Walsh said. “It's kind of a case of lemonade out of lemons. In the end, I think things worked out well we were able to get some positive feedback from the community, parents, students, alumni, and staff."

Walsh said he's happy with the new logo and that it represents the community and maintains the school's history of the elk. He said he thinks one of the best things about this new logo is that the community had an input, however students, grade 7-12, did give the largest feedback about the new design.

Sophomore Erin DeLong said she is proud of the new logo design.
"It’s new, it's different, I’m excited to see what it looks like, I haven't seen the whole thing,” DeLong said.

Walsh said it was an elaborate process, but he's glad for the positive support.

“Making that decision after the first hiccup that was put down, and giving people a chance to put down their thoughts and feelings, I think people like that and were happy,” Walsh said.

He said as soon as the new floor is dry, people will have a chance to view the new logo.

“I’m ready for the school year to start and have this behind us, and look forward to a good school year,” Walsh said.
