Woman killed in Boyceville officer-involved shooting

Village of Boyceville, Wis. (WEAU)- An officer-involved shooting in Boyceville leaves a woman dead.

Just after 9PM Friday dispatchers in Dunn County received a call of a fight between a man and a woman at a home in the Village of Boyceville.

When a Boyceville police officer responded to the home a 33-year old woman came to the door carrying a rifle in her hand.

When the officer told the woman to drop the rifle she refused and then pulled a handgun out and pointed it at the officer. Detectives say that's when the officer fired one fatal round at the suspect.

The handgun she brandished was later found to be a replica, said police.

Detectives from the Barron County Sheriff's Office were called to the scene and are investigating the officer involved shooting. Other law enforcement, including Dunn County Sheriff's Office, Colfax Police Dept., Durand Police Dept. and Wisconsin State Patrol assisted.

As protocol,l the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave.

The officer and the suspect’s names have not been released. The Boyceville Police Dept. says it grieves this tragic situation.
