Firefighters: Sprinklers reduced damage from Eau Claire business fire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Firefighters are crediting sprinklers for reducing the amount of damage caused by an overnight fire at an Eau Claire uniform company.

When crews arrived to the 3600 block of White Avenue early Tuesday morning, smoke was pouring from the large commercial building.

They responded to Huebsch Linen Services just after 2:00 a.m. The business is off Melby Street, near the airport.

According to the fire department, uniforms and rags were burning inside. Firefighters say the sprinkler system kept the fire small. They're estimating damage at $20,000.

Huebsch makes work uniforms, floor matting and facility supplies.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a fire early Tuesday morning at an area business.

Fire crews were called to Huebsch Services on the 3600 block of White Avenue off Melby Street near the airport shortly after 2 a.m..

Smoke could be seen coming out of the roof of the building.

Several fire trucks were on scene and firefighters were able to contain the fire shortly after arrival.

Eau Claire Fire and Rescue said the fire involved uniforms and rags and estimated damage to be around $20,000.

On the company's website it says they manufacture work uniforms, floor matting and facility supplies.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
