Fire in Jackson County causes significant damage to cabin

BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- A fire in Jackson County Sunday morning causes significant heat, smoke, and water damage to a cabin.

At 8:08 a.m. Sunday morning, the Black River Falls Fire Department (BRFFD) was notified by the Jackson County Emergency Dispatch Center of a structure fire at W14277 West Pine Creek Road in the township of Albion.

When the BRFFD arrived at the scene, a small cabin was on fire in one corner of the house. The crew attacked the fire from the inside and extinguished the flames quickly.

Law enforecement says the owners of the property told them they were working on a vehicle in the yard and heard a popping noise and could smell smoke. They went to the house on the property and had someone inside call 911. The property owners said the cabin was not occupied by anyone at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

The property owners said the structure was insured.

The BRFFD was on the scene for two hours with four units and eight firefighters.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department and linemen from Jackson Electric Cooperative assisted on the scene.
