EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Gov. Walker is encouraging Wisconsinites to submit nominations for a new state-wide award.

The Wisconsin Job Honor Awards celebrates those who have overcome significant barriers to employment and also recognizes the employers who hire them.

Nominations for the first annual Wisconsin Job Honor Awards are open until Oct. 15; the founder says that hard workers deserve to be honored.

"So our tagline is it's time for a new kind of hero, and we want to put those people on the stage, celebrate them so others might emulate their same paths into the workforce," said Kyle Horn, founder of America’s Job Honor Awards.

The top employee honoree will bring home $500 each and winners in both categories will receive awards.
